Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Reviews Rs38 Billion Ramadan Relief Package 2026

The Prime Minister’s review meeting on the significant Rs38 billion Ramadan Relief Package 2026 took place under his chairmanship at the Prime Minister’s House. Speaking to participants, she emphasized transparency in the distribution process, stating that this package is now a cornerstone of Pakistan’s largest and most comprehensive Ramadan relief initiative.

Last year, financial assistance per beneficiary was Rs5,000; this time around, it has been increased to Rs13,000 for deserving individuals during the holy month. Shehbaz Sharif highlighted last year’s success in distributing the package through a digital system involving 64 percent of beneficiaries by the 8th Ramadan.

He elaborated that financial assistance is now transferred directly to beneficiaries via digital wallets, ensuring transparency and convenience while protecting their dignity against long queues. Over 12 banks and fintech companies have partnered with the government this year for distribution purposes, resulting in nearly 1.1 million digital transactions conducted so far by beneficiaries.

The meeting was informed that as of the 8th Ramadan, 64 percent of beneficiaries had received payments; verification and processing are underway for the remaining recipients. Over 1.227 million automated calls have been made to raise awareness about the package across print, electronic, and social media platforms, covering all regions of Pakistan including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Real-time dashboards will monitor payments and promote transparency, while a comprehensive awareness campaign is ongoing through various channels. The meeting was attended by key officials such as Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Poverty Alleviation Minister Syed Imran Ahmed Shah, IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and several senior government figures.

The initiative’s success hinges on the robust collaboration between 12 banks and fintech companies, with real-time monitoring via dashboards ensuring accountability. A wide-ranging awareness campaign across print, electronic, and social media platforms underscores the project’s comprehensive coverage of Pakistan.
