Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif recently met with Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad. The meeting underscored a renewed commitment to strategic cooperation between Pakistan and China, reinforcing the enduring All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership that has characterized their relationship.
Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed his country’s deep respect for China’s support on various fronts, including economic development, security, and socio-economic progress. He particularly emphasized the ongoing importance of projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, with a focus on accelerating work on the flagship project—the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He highlighted areas such as agriculture, information technology, mining, and minerals, urging for closer collaboration in these sectors to foster mutual growth and stability. Additionally, he expressed his gratitude towards China’s consistent backing during critical times.
In his part of the dialogue, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong reiterated China’s commitment to Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and socio-economic development. He underscored his country’s ongoing support for initiatives like the CPEC and other Belt and Road projects, which have significantly contributed to regional economic growth and integration.
The meeting also allowed both leaders to discuss shared concerns regarding regional stability and international affairs. They agreed to maintain close coordination and consultation to promote peace, stability, and prosperity not only within their borders but also globally.
