Sher Afzal Marwat Ousted from PTI’s Political Committee

Senior leader of PTI Sher Afzal Marwat finds himself ousted from both the party’s Political Committee and the coveted Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chairmanship slot, as reported by Headline PK, citing informed sources.

Sources revealed to Headline PK that Marwat, who recently voiced strong criticisms against his party colleagues, faced expulsion not only from the PAC but also from the PTI’s internal communication channels, including the party’s WhatsApp group.

Just a day prior, reports emerged of PTI founder Imran Khan’s disappointment with Marwat’s alleged “irresponsible behavior,” leading to a refusal to meet him during Khan’s incarceration in Adiala Jail.

Marwat’s contentious statements regarding Saudi Arabia’s purported involvement in the PTI government’s downfall and his alleged meeting with Defense Minister Khawaja Asif are purported reasons behind Khan’s disenchantment, according to insider sources.

However, Marwat refuted these claims, accusing party members Shibli Faraz and Omar Ayub of thwarting his attempts to meet Khan in jail. He alleged collusion between Faraz, Ayub, and the jail administration in obstructing his access to the PTI founder.

“When I come for meeting today, the jail superintendent didn’t allow me to meet him,” he said. “My meeting with the PTI founder was extremely necessary,” he said.

The PTI leadership may consider disciplinary measures against Marwat for his perceived “controversial statements,” insiders suggested, indicating further turmoil within the party ranks.

Expressing his frustration, Marwat lamented being reprimanded for his dedicated service to the PTI and denounced the party’s social media team for lodging complaints against him.

Asserting his stance, Marwat announced his protest against the PTI leadership’s actions, declaring his refusal to cooperate until entrusted with responsibilities by Khan himself.

It’s worth noting that Sheikh Waqas Akram’s appointment as the PAC chairman was approved by PTI’s political committee amidst the ongoing internal strife within the party.
