SHINE Humanity successfully concluded Medicathon 2026 at Government Boys School Jhampir, Thatta, bringing an entire day of free, comprehensive medical care to one of Sindh’s most underserved communities. Medicathon 2026 marked the second year of meaningful and structured partnership between SHINE Humanity and AIESEC’s local chapter IBA, the Karachi-based chapter of the world’s largest youth-led organisation. A total of 583 patients received free medical consultations, screenings and medicines. The camp included a team of general physicians, a dermatologist, an ophthalmologist, trained vitalists, and additional support staff who collectively delivered a wide range of free services to community members throughout the day. General and dermatology consultations were conducted for patients presenting a broad range of conditions, while an on-site eye clinic offered free checkups to those in need. Anemia screenings were carried out, addressing one of the most prevalent yet underdiagnosed conditions among women and children in rural Pakistan. Screening for malnutrition using MUAC tape assessments was also conducted, with a comprehensive patient database maintained to ensure ongoing follow-up and longer-term support beyond the camp day itself. Essential medicines were dispensed directly to all patients as required, and the camp also hosted a family planning counselling session alongside a menstrual hygiene awareness program, addressing deeply neglected dimensions of women’s health in the region.

In districts such as Thatta, where access to healthcare remains limited, SHINE Humanity is working to bridge critical gaps in medical care and health education. Through its expanding network of primary healthcare facilities, community outreach programmes, and support from partners including Shan Foods, Garibsons Pvt. Limited, and Mehran Spices, the organisation has impacted more than 1.8 million people through free consultations, medicines, screenings, and health awareness initiatives.

Youth-led initiatives are not just the future of humanitarian work – they are the present. When young people choose to spend their time, their energy, and their passion in service of those who have been forgotten by the system, they don’t just change lives in a single day; they change themselves forever. At SHINE Humanity, we have always believed that the most powerful medicine we can offer is in the act of showing up. And that is exactly what the young volunteers of AIESEC in IBA did at Medicathon 2026. Together, we showed the people of Jhampir that they are seen, and that healthcare is not a privilege reserved for the few. Faheem Khan, CEO, SHINE Humanity

This partnership demonstrates the power of combining healthcare expertise with youth-led action. By working together, experienced humanitarian organisations and young volunteers can create a deeper, more lasting impact. For many participants, Medicathon 2026 offered first-hand insight into healthcare inequity and the collective effort required to address it. SHINE Humanity remains committed to expanding access to healthcare in Pakistan’s underserved communities and strengthening partnerships that advance this mission.
