Shonda Rhimes Reacts to Eric Dane Omission

At the Vanity Fair’s Oscar Party on March 15, Shonda Rhimes was asked about Eric Dane’s omission from the In Memoriam tribute at the 98th Academy Awards. Responding to the question, Rhimes said, “Well, he’s not a movie star.”

Rhimes Predicts Emmys for Dane

The television producer and screenwriter also predicted that Dane would be immortalized in the Emmys the way he should be.

Emmy Appreciation

Many celebrities who had worked with Rob Reiner appeared in the video, including Rachel McAdams, who spoke about Catherine O’Hara and Diane Keaton. Barbra Streisand honored Robert Redford with a performance.

Dane’s Passing

Eric Dane passed away on February 19, 2026, after battling Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, for an extended period. He was diagnosed with ALS in April of the previous year.
