The Sindh government has decided to activate the Shaheen Force in Karachi to curb street crime, alongside convening a provincial Apex Committee meeting here on Thursday.
During the meeting on law and order in the province, where the President of the country was briefed, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah informed that the Madadgar 15 service has been improved to equip the police with 168 vehicles and 120 motorcycles.
The Director-General of Rangers Sindh briefed the President that in the past four months, 49 individuals involved in street crime have been apprehended within Karachi. Providing statistics during their briefing, they stated that during various operations, 43 suspects were apprehended, while 13 were eliminated in encounters.

Briefing on the situation in Karachi, the Inspector-General of Police Sindh mentioned that in the last four months, the police have eliminated 63 dacoits and arrested 418, with ongoing efforts to recover 20 individuals. Through police operations, 609 citizens were saved from abduction, 103 were rescued, and efforts are underway to recover 20 more individuals.
In the briefing, it was disclosed that during various operations, 17 police officers were martyred and 27 were injured.
It is noteworthy that under the presidency of Asif Zardari, a meeting on law and order in Sindh was held at the Chief Minister’s House in Karachi, attended by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon, and DG Rangers Sindh Major General Azhar Waqas, along with provincial ministers and other relevant officials.
The President directed the Sindh Chief Minister to complete the Karachi Safe City Project on war footing and to secure the city’s internal and external routes with modern barriers.
The President reiterated a zero-tolerance policy on land grabbing, prohibiting anyone from occupying land illegally. He also ordered the protection of Chinese nationals.
