Sindh cabinet lifts ban on govt jobs, greenlights big projects

The Sindh Cabinet convened to discuss pivotal decisions impacting the province. Ministers, advisors, Chief Secretary, Chairman of P&D Najam Shah, and relevant secretaries were present.

Notably, the Cabinet lifted the ban on hiring across all departments. Furthermore, the Law Minister received directives to terminate hiring restrictions in courts.

In a move aimed at enhancing infrastructure, the Karachi Water and Sewerage Improvement Project (WSSI) kickstarted with collaboration from donor agencies, initiating projects worth $100 million.The WSSI project focuses on providing clean water and upgrading the water board’s infrastructure. The project’s total cost will be shared: 40% by the World Bank, 40% by the ADB, and 20% by the Sindh government, with an allocated budget of PKR 646.756 million.

Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned PKR 400 million for Larkana University and instructed the Chief Secretary to devise a business plan for every university through the Sindh Higher Education Commission.

This strategic planning aims to ensure financial sustainability for universities post-establishment.
