The cost of solar panels and batteries in Pakistan has seen a substantial decline as cooler weather sets in and inflation rates ease.

Reports reveal a 20% drop in battery prices, with lithium batteries now priced at Rs380,000, down from Rs400,000. Tubular battery prices have also decreased, falling to Rs55,000 from Rs70,000.

Solar panel costs continue to trend downward, with prices reaching a record low of Rs28 per watt. This year-long decline is attributed to various factors, including increased imports and improved government policies.

Federal Minister Owais Laghari highlighted that Pakistan imported 8,000 megawatts of solar panels last year, equivalent to 30-35% of the output of the world’s largest hydropower project, the Three Gorges Dam. Local suppliers remain optimistic about further price reductions.
