In an extensive conversation, Abrar talks about his journey to the top level, injury struggles at the start of his career, preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, his bowling approach in white-ball cricket, shifting between formats, and how he goes about his famous celebration.
Abrar has so far taken 46 wickets in 10 Tests, 28 scalps in 14 ODIs, and 46 in 34 T20Is. He began his international career in December 2022 against England with 11 wickets, including a spell of 7-114 in the first innings, the third-best bowling figures on Test debut for Pakistan.
The Karachi-born spinner also holds the record for most wickets taken by Pakistan in the 2025 calendar year, having dismissed 53 batters in 34 matches across formats. Currently ranked second in T20Is and ninth in ODIs by ICC player rankings for bowlers.
