ISLAMABAD: In the last ENG VS SL T20 clash, England found themselves in a precarious position with Sri Lanka chasing 129. They reached just 90-5 in 13.1 overs thanks to early wickets by England’s bowlers.

Sri Lanka showed resilience and determination, despite being under immense pressure. Will Jacks led the charge, taking three crucial wickets, and Adil Rashid added two more, but not before Sri Lanka lost several key batsmen.

However, the team held together through the innings of Kusal Mendis, who contributed 26 off 26 balls. His performance was aided by quick, significant contributions from Pathum Nissanka (23 off 12), Pavan Rathnayake (13 off 15), and Kamindu Mendis (14 off 11). Despite the early setbacks, Sri Lanka’s batsmen kept the chase alive.

By the 14th over, they were at 91-5 with Janith Liyanage unbeaten on 13 and Dunith Wellalage on 1, needing just 38 runs from 36 balls. With the required run rate standing at 8.33 and a win probability heavily favoring them at 88 per cent, Sri Lanka were firmly in control despite England’s early breakthroughs.

England’s bowlers had put Sri Lanka under pressure but the middle and lower order of their batsmen kept the match close. As the final overs approached, fans were on the edge of their seats, witnessing a thrilling series decider that could go either way.
