Police arrested a woman in Karachi’s Steel Town Saturday on charges she murdered her 14-month-old stepson, officials reported. Authorities confirmed that the infant was strangled by his stepmother while his father and biological mother were in Thatta for a holiday. The child had been left under the care of the father’s second wife. At approximately 2 p.m., the father received news of the son’s worsening condition, prompting him to rush back home. When they arrived, they found their infant dead.
“Initial evidence indicates that he may have been strangled,” a police official explained. “Investigations are ongoing.” The child’s body was taken for medico-legal examination, while the suspect was detained in custody. Authorities indicated that a formal case would be registered post-preliminary inquiries to determine exact circumstances surrounding the tragic death.
Authorities expressed determination to investigate all aspects of this incident thoroughly to uncover the full picture behind the child’s untimely demise.
