In Lahore, a medical college tragedy underscores mental health challenges faced by students. A 22-year-old final-year medical student named Fareeha succumbed after allegedly jumping from her hostel’s roof following months of severe depression. According to doctors, she had been battling clinical anxiety and emotional distress.

Fareeha was preparing for her final exams when a critical condition suddenly forced her life-saving journey to the hospital. Her colleagues at Fatima Jinnah Medical College reported an emergency call at 7:55 PM from a student in urgent need of assistance from their roof.

Hospital staff confirmed that Fareeha, originally hailing from Kashmir and previously living with her father in Lahore post-retirement, was critically injured during the fall. The authorities began investigating the incident while also reviewing the mental health support mechanisms at the institution.

Fareeha’s death has sparked conversations about the mental wellbeing of medical students and the availability of resources for such sensitive issues within the healthcare education sector. Authorities are urging students to seek help and have pledged to review their counseling facilities and protocols following this tragic event.
