SC Rejects Imran Khan’s Hospital Transfer Petition

Supreme Court in Pakistan dismissed a petition seeking the transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan to a hospital with procedural objections. The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Yahya Afridi, objected on behalf of the court.

The PTI legal team had filed the request for humanitarian reasons, emphasizing it was unrelated to politics or law. Their appeal stemmed from previous assurances that proper medical care would be ensured by authorities, including orders given by the High Court.

However, Chief Justice Afridi clarified these directives were not issued by the Supreme Court but rather commitments made by the government. He advised the PTI leadership to seek clarification from the registrar regarding the procedural issues raised.

If no resolution is reached, the case can be revisited before the court again. This move has sparked concerns among Khan’s supporters who have been pushing for his immediate hospitalization due to persistent health issues.

In a country where public figures often find themselves at the center of political and personal dramas, this procedural twist underscores the complex legal landscape that shapes healthcare access for high-profile individuals.
