Syrian Girl Orphaned in Beirut by Israeli Strike Seeks Return to Friends and School

A month ago, Nariman al-Issa was like any other 12-year-old living in Beirut’s southern suburbs. She played with toys and rode her bicycle.

Her life took a dramatic turn when an Israeli strike killed her parents and siblings and destroyed their home.

Now out of school, the young Syrian is barely surviving with her extended family on the streets of Lebanon – among the 1 million displaced by expanding air strikes and evacuation orders.
