A father passed away after being stabbed during an argument with his teenage son in Botetourt County, Virginia. According to ABC’s WSET news, the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office received a call regarding violence inside a home located on Old Fincastle Road early Saturday morning, January 24th.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found an adult male suffering from a stab wound to his chest. Despite immediate medical assistance at the scene, he succumbed to his injuries. The sheriff’s office reported that investigators believe the altercation began with a heated argument between the father and his 16-year-old son.
During the confrontation inside the home, tensions escalated until the fatal stabbing occurred. Additionally, the teenager was discovered with superficial cuts on his legs; however, these were not sustained during the incident itself. The youth was immediately taken to a nearby hospital for treatment before being placed in custody.
As law enforcement conducted further investigation, the minor was charged with second-degree murder, discharging a firearm inside a residence, brandishing a firearm, and two counts of domestic assault against family members. Sheriff’s officials emphasized that this incident was isolated and posed no risk to public safety, stating, “There is no ongoing threat.” The case remains under active investigation.
Given the minor’s status as a suspect, authorities have announced they will withhold any additional information until further notice.
