Terrorists Attack Police Outposts in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa

Overnight, militants unleashed a wave of targeted strikes across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), causing injury and sparking a swift police response. In Peshawar’s Badhaber area, terrorists hurled a grenade at a local police station, critically wounding Head Constable Faisal. Nearby, another civilian was injured in an accompanying incident.

In Bannu district, assailants used sniper rifles to riddle the PP Kinger Bridge outpost with bullets from multiple directions before being repelled by determined officers for fifteen minutes. At the Domel police checkpoint at Kasho Bridge, a fierce 15-minute gunfight ensued but ultimately yielded no casualties as security forces neutralized the threat.

In Hangu district, unidentified assailants attacked Talab checkpost without causing any fatalities in their attempt to breach the perimeter. Across multiple locations including Peshawar and Bannu, militants launched coordinated assaults on police outposts, while provincial authorities reinforced counter-attacks with rapid responses from local forces.

Police officials noted that all incursions were thwarted through swift action by security personnel. Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hamid condemned the terrorists, accusing them of cowardice and inexperience. He described how they hid in bushes to launch hit-and-run attacks but fled when met with firm resistance from police forces.

The incidents occurred amid heightened tensions at Pakistan-Afghanistan border. In retaliation for Pakistani military operations, Afghan forces attacked and destroyed several shops in the Mir Ali market of North Waziristan. Pakistani authorities have accused Afghanistan of harboring terrorists responsible for cross-border attacks, claims that Kabul denies outright.

Across KP, security forces remain vigilant as militant activities escalate with groups operating from across the border. No group has claimed responsibility for Friday night’s coordinated assault and subsequent skirmishes.
