Texas AG Opens Probe into 30 Firms Over Alleged H-1B Visa Fraud

Ken Paxton, Texas Attorney General’s Office, has filed a lawsuit against 29 companies. The lawsuit accuses these firms of using fraudulent methods to sponsor foreign workers through the US H-1B visa program.

The civil investigative demands seek employee records, financial documents, and business correspondence from the targeted firms. These include TechPro IT, FamePBX, FirstRanking Technologies, Kubitz Tech Systems, BloomingClouds, Virat Solutions, Oak Technologies, TechPath, and TechQuincy.

Authorities claim some companies may have used fake or “ghost” offices to support visa applications. No criminal charges have been filed yet, but the investigation aims to prevent system abuse and ensure compliance with immigration laws.

Most of the targeted firms are based in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, a major hub for Texas’ IT sector. Legal experts say this case highlights ongoing scrutiny of the H-1B program, which is widely used by US tech companies but has also faced repeated allegations of misuse.

Community groups have raised concerns that the investigation could impact broader South Asian professionals working in technology, while stressing that only a small number of bad actors may be involved. Authorities said the scope of the probe could expand further, and any violations found could lead to serious legal consequences.
