Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, announced his departure later this year. He will be succeeded by John Ternus, a senior vice president of hardware engineering.
Cook will transition into the role of executive chairman of Apple’s board of directors, replacing Arthur Levinson. The handover to Ternus is set for September 1.
In a statement, Cook expressed his gratitude and admiration for Ternus, describing him as an engineer with an innovative mindset and a heart devoted to leading with integrity.
Ternus, who has spent nearly his entire career at Apple, also thanked Cook for the opportunity to work under Steve Jobs and learn from him. He emphasized his commitment to advancing Apple’s mission.
