Oil tankers and goods transport associations have issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the government, demanding acceptance of the Balochistan Goods Truck Trailer Owners Association’s demands. Failure to comply, they warn, will result in a nationwide highway blockade.
According to transport representatives, operating costs for a ten-wheel vehicle have surged to approximately Rs3 million. They argue that owners have already upgraded their fleets, and the newly imposed restrictions will render vehicles inoperative, leading to heavy financial losses for both owners and workers.
The protest involves multiple associations, including the Oil Tankers Association, Edible Oil Tankers Association, All Pakistan Truck Association, Sindh-Balochistan Mazda Goods Transport, Goods Transport Association, Car Carriers, Water Tankers, Sindh Dumpers, and Karachi Goods Transport Association.
Transporters insist that unless load axle restrictions are lifted, they will escalate their protest by launching a full-scale strike and blocking highways across all four provinces.
