U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that his administration’s review of UFO-related documents has uncovered several intriguing records. The first releases are expected to begin soon, he said at an event hosted by conservative group Turning Point USA.
In February, Trump directed U.S. agencies to release government files related to UFOs, unidentified aerial phenomena, and possible extraterrestrial life, citing strong public interest in the issue.
The review was prompted after Trump accused former President Barack Obama of improperly sharing classified information when Obama said aliens were real in a podcast interview. Obama later clarified he had seen no evidence of extraterrestrial contact during his presidency but acknowledged the statistical likelihood of life elsewhere in the universe is high.
Trump, who has also stated he has not seen evidence of aliens and remains uncertain about their existence, directed the review amid recent years’ Pentagon investigations into UFO reports. In 2022, senior military leaders said they found no evidence to suggest that aliens had visited Earth or crash-land here. A 2024 Pentagon report added that U.S. government investigations since World War Two have found no evidence of extraterrestrial technology and most sightings were misidentified ordinary objects and phenomena.
