Two workers killed in Lahore building collapse
Rescue officials confirm two laborers died when a lift collapsed at an under-construction building in Lahore’s Liberty area.
The incident occurred while work was underway on a private commercial plaza. The lift suddenly plunged, causing the two men to fall from a significant height and die immediately due to severe injuries.
Initial findings indicate that the victims were performing routine site work when the malfunction led to the sudden collapse of the lift, leaving no time for escape. Authorities have not yet confirmed the exact cause of the mechanical failure.
Police are investigating the incident to determine responsibility and assess whether safety protocols were followed. The construction site’s management and contractors will be questioned as part of the inquiry.
Rescue teams arrived promptly at the scene and transported the bodies to a nearby hospital. Officials stated that legal and medical procedures are being completed before the remains are handed over to the families.
