Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif asserts India is waging a proxy war through Afghanistan, intensifying regional security concerns. In an interview with a private TV channel, Asif claimed that Afghanistan was effectively acting as a proxy for India, destabilizing Pakistan using Afghan territory. He also asserted both Pakistani and Afghan Taliban factions receive support from India.
Asif emphasized Pakistan’s pursuit of stability and peace in the region, stating Islamabad aims to maintain relations based on mutual respect and cooperation with neighboring countries. The defence minister reiterated that Pakistan’s policy is rooted in peaceful coexistence, describing it as a responsible neighbor committed to regional harmony.
He also underscored the importance of prioritizing national interests over personal considerations, urging stakeholders to set aside individual gains for broader state objectives. His remarks come amid heightened tensions and ongoing security challenges along Pakistan’s western border.
Referring to past conflicts, Asif stated that the Pakistan Army had previously countered Indian actions effectively, deterring further aggression. He added that India would not risk launching another attack against Pakistan due to its military’s preparedness and past outcomes.
