A surprise inspection by senior officials of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) on May 10 has uncovered widespread illegal water extraction in the FTM and CTM Divisions, prompting immediate suspensions and a formal call for a high-level investigation.

Chairman KW&SC, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, in a formal request, has urged the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team (CMIT) to launch a comprehensive inquiry into the alleged theft, citing “serious lapses in vigilance and operational oversight.”

As an initial disciplinary step, Executive Engineer Ahsanullah Shaikh (CTM Division) and Assistant Executive Engineer S.M. Ahsan (FTM Division) have been suspended for failing to prevent the illicit activity.

“This issue strikes at the core of public trust and institutional accountability,” Wahab stated, pledging full cooperation with CMIT to ensure transparency and deterrence against future violations.
