U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth referenced immigration during D-Day anniversary speech at Normandy American Cemetery in France, linking it to wartime liberation of Europe. He warned that freedom won by Allied troops could be temporary if not defended, citing “different dangerous ideologies” storming European beaches today.

Hegseth did not explicitly use the term ‘immigration’ but his comments echoed broader criticism from Trump administration over migration and border issues in Europe. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s office condemned U.S. Vice President JD Vance for blaming immigration in a stabbing incident, where both victim and attacker were British.

In December, the Trump administration issued a national security strategy warning of potential ‘civilizational erasure’ in Europe within 20 years.
