The United Arab Emirates has announced a more accessible and streamlined visa process for Pakistani citizens, signaling a renewed chapter in bilateral ties and offering relief to those seeking work, medical treatment, or visiting opportunities in the Emirates.
Speaking to the media in Karachi, UAE Consul General Dr. Bakheet Ateeq Al-Rumaithi expressed his deep appreciation for Pakistan and its people. “We have immense love and respect for the people of Pakistan. Whether for employment, healthcare, or personal visits, every Pakistani—regardless of status—can now apply for a UAE visa with ease,” he said.
Emphasizing the commitment to improve public service, Dr. Al-Rumaithi described the experience at the consulate as a “red carpet” welcome for applicants and assured that all efforts are being made to ensure applications are processed swiftly and respectfully. “God willing, no one will leave without being heard or helped,” he added. He encouraged the people of Pakistan to remain hopeful and not lose heart. “I appeal to the people of Pakistan—do not be disheartened. We stand by you,” he said, underscoring the UAE’s enduring bond with the country.
The positive diplomatic gesture coincided with the visit of Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori to the UAE Consulate in Karachi, where he was welcomed by UAE Ambassador Hamad Obaid Ibrahim Salem Al Zaabi and Consul General Dr. Al-Rumaithi.
Governor Tessori toured the newly inaugurated UAE visa center, which has been described as the largest of its kind in Asia. He lauded the proactive approach taken by the UAE to ease visa access for Pakistanis and commended the consulate’s professionalism and hospitality.
Governor Tessori acknowledged that visa delays had been a concern for several months and said he had raised the issue multiple times with the UAE Ambassador in Islamabad. Now, he noted, the situation has improved considerably. “I am pleased to say that Pakistani traders and families can now receive UAE visas much more easily. A five-year visa is now possible, and in some cases, it is being issued in just 20 to 25 minutes,” he said.
He also highlighted the improved applicant experience at the consulate, where individuals are now being greeted with red carpet service—a gesture reflecting the UAE’s respect and affection for Pakistanis. The governor praised the UAE’s genuine commitment to strengthening ties and creating opportunities for the Pakistani community, noting that the Consul General is not only a capable diplomat but also someone who truly values Pakistan and its people.
This improved visa facilitation comes at a time of growing cooperation between the UAE and Pakistan, supported by the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), an initiative of the Government of Pakistan aimed at streamlining foreign investments and enhancing bilateral collaboration.
Applicants who receive a notification from the UAE Consulate or Visa Center in Karachi are required to bring proof of visa application, a signed and stamped six-month bank statement showing a minimum balance of 5,000 US dollars (or equivalent), hotel or residential booking confirmation, a return air ticket, and original passport and CNIC with at least six months’ validity.
Children under five are not required to visit the visa center; only a passport-size photograph is needed. Children aged six to fifteen can have their photo taken at the visa center. Applicants aged fifteen and above must appear in person and complete biometric and verification processes, after depositing 70 US dollars into the designated account at Bank Alfalah.
For those applying through sponsors or companies, a medical fitness report (GAMCA) is mandatory. The applicant must complete biometric registration and attestation by depositing 70 and 41 US dollars respectively in the same bank account. Once these steps are completed, they must return to the visa center with the medical report, original documents, and bank receipts to process their employment visa.
The newly simplified and structured process is expected to help thousands of Pakistanis access the UAE’s job market and family reunification programs more efficiently, offering new hope to individuals and families across the country. This initiative reflects the UAE’s enduring commitment to its relationship with Pakistan and its people, reinforcing a long-standing friendship built on mutual respect and shared prosperity.
