Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the president of the United Arab Emirates, made his first public comments since tensions escalated in the Middle East. Addressing those injured in retaliatory strikes by Iran on UAE territory, he emphasized their nation’s resilience and unyielding commitment to defending its people.
“We are no easy prey,” Bin Zayed declared, speaking on Friday from Abu Dhabi TV while visiting the injured. “The UAE has thick skin and bitter flesh—it is not an easy target for our enemies.” He underscored that protection would extend beyond citizens to all residents who form part of the nation’s family.
This statement came against a backdrop of escalating tensions in the region following US-Israeli airstrikes, which led Iran to retaliate by targeting American military bases in multiple Gulf countries. The incident included Khamenei’s assassination and other high-ranking officials from Iran.
The UAE president underscored their determination to protect everyone within the country, declaring they would fulfill their duty toward their nation, people, and residents who are integral members of their community.
In these times of war, Bin Zayed reaffirmed that the UAE stands strong, ready to safeguard its territories and citizens against threats.
