UAE Renames Ministerial Council for AI Focus

The United Arab Emirates has renamed its ministerial development council to the “Ministerial Council for Artificial Intelligence and Development.” This change was announced by Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The new council will be chaired by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The move aligns with the vision of President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to automate 50% of government services within two years and enhance efficiency across key sectors.

The initiative aims to improve governance efficiency, policy-making, flexibility, innovation, and service delivery while maintaining a human-centered approach. The council will oversee implementation of national policies, government programs, and strategic initiatives across ministries and federal entities. It will also review proposed legislation and strategies before submitting recommendations to the cabinet. Furthermore, it plans to accelerate the use of artificial intelligence in sectors such as health, education, housing, infrastructure, transport, energy, and communications.
