US Secret Service shoots dead armed intruder at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate

In an alarming incident, the US Secret Service swiftly responded to what appeared to be a potential assassination attempt at President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida early Sunday morning. The assailant, identified as a young man in his early 20s, illegally entered the secure perimeter of the property with weapons visible on his person—specifically, a shotgun and a fuel can. Authorities confirmed that this individual was confronted by U.S. Secret Service agents and law enforcement from Palm Beach County near the north gate.

The immediate confrontation resulted in the death of the assailant after he attempted to engage with authorities, leading to shots being fired by the agents in self-defense. This incident underscores heightened security measures at President Trump’s Florida estate following threats aimed at him over several months.

Earlier this month, a man who planned an assassination attempt on President Donald Trump at a Florida golf course last September 2024 was sentenced to life in prison. That same year, Matthew Crooks, a young attendee of a rally where the Republican leader was speaking, fired shots during the event—causing one fatality and drawing Trump back into public consciousness as his presidency faced renewed challenges.

The Mar-a-Lago incident is part of a broader context that includes threats directed at both President Trump and other prominent figures, highlighting ongoing vigilance in securing such high-profile locations. Despite these recent incidents, no U.S. officers were injured during the confrontation.
