US to Aid FIA Modernization, Forensic Enhancements in Pakistan

The United States has committed to aiding Pakistan in modernizing its Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to meet Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) standards. This agreement was reached during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Acting US Ambassador Natalie Baker in Islamabad.

The US will also assist in upgrading the National Forensic Agency to align with contemporary global standards.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi underscored the importance of the US partnership in bolstering the capabilities of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies. He emphasized the urgent need for equipping the Civil Armed Forces with advanced tools and technology to tackle terrorism and respond to emergencies effectively.

Naqvi highlighted the strong, positive relations between Pakistan and the US while reaffirming that no foreign nationals with valid documentation would face expulsion from Islamabad. However, he stressed that undocumented individuals would not be allowed to remain in the city.

Acting Ambassador Natalie Baker extended her best wishes to Pakistan for successfully hosting the upcoming Champions Trophy, further strengthening bilateral ties.
