Zong, Pakistan’s leading information services and technology innovation company, has signed an agreement with the Pakistan Environmental Protection Agency (Pak-EPA) to launch a comprehensive Tree Plantation Drive across Islamabad, under its Green and Low Carbon Initiatives.

The initiative was inaugurated by Syed Abrar Hussain, Director General Pak-EPA; Dr. Mohsina Zubair, Director Pak-EPA; Nabila Yazdani, Head of Corporate Communications, Brand, and Sustainability at Zong; and Andleeb Aslam, Deputy Director of Corporate Communications and Sustainability at Zong.

The drive aims to address pressing environmental challenges, including climate change, air pollution, and biodiversity loss, by enhancing Islamabad’s green spaces. Approximately 3,500 indigenous trees will be planted across designated areas of the city.

“Environmental responsibility is an integral part of how Zong operates and innovates,” said Nabila Yazdani. “This tree plantation drive reflects our commitment to embedding sustainability into our operations while collaborating with national stakeholders to create tangible, long-term environmental impact for Islamabad and beyond.”

Syed Abrar Hussain, DG Pak-EPA, added: “This partnership with Zong demonstrates how public-private collaboration can address Pakistan’s environmental challenges in a tangible way. By planting indigenous trees and raising awareness across the community, we are not only improving Islamabad’s green infrastructure but also creating measurable benefits for air quality, biodiversity, and climate resilience. Initiatives like this show how collective action can build a sustainable future for our cities.”

The partnership will also feature public awareness campaigns to encourage community participation and foster a culture of environmental stewardship, highlighting the civic duty of all citizens to adopt green behaviors. These efforts aim to deliver long-term environmental benefits, including carbon sequestration and mitigation of the urban heat island effect.

Through initiatives like this, Zong continues to demonstrate its commitment to sustainable development, community well-being, and a greener future for Pakistan.
