2 US Service Members Missing in Morocco Training Exercises, Search Ongoing

Two U.S. service members reported missing off southern Morocco’s coast near Cap Draa Training Area. Officials with U.S. Africa Command confirmed recovery efforts are ongoing in the Sahara Desert area where the Atlantic Ocean meets the sea. The incident is part of African Lion, a massive annual joint military exercise led by AFRICOM involving thousands of troops from the U.S., African partner nations, and NATO allies. This year’s event features over 5,000 personnel from more than 40 countries focusing on advanced technologies like drones and artificial intelligence.
