67 Hospitalized in Karachi as Heatwave Causes Surge in High Fever Cases

At least 67 individuals were admitted to Civil Hospital in Karachi on Monday, suffering from high fever as a heatwave continues to grip the city.

According to sources, all of these patients had a confirmed fever. Dr. Nizam Shaikh, head of the heat stroke ward, stated that “all the people had 101 degree fever.”

Among the admitted, 18 people presented with high fever, though heatstroke was not confirmed.

Dr. Nizam highlighted that the extreme heat is leading to high fever and other illnesses. He advised residents to stay hydrated and avoid unnecessary outdoor activities during this period.

The meteorological department says that the temperature in Karachi can go up to 40 to 41 degrees, but the intensity of heat can felt up to 46 degrees.

According to the Meteorological Department, there may be a heat stroke-like situation in Karachi for the next 3 days.

According to weather experts, the feels-like temperature (heat indices) exceeded 60°C in Azizabad, Saima Arabian Villa, North Nazimabad and Model Colony .
