The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Election Commission announced the final list of candidates for the upcoming Legislative Assembly elections. The total number of contestants is 852 across 45 constituencies.
Over 320 aspirants withdrew from the race, leading to this reduced count. The commission has also allocated election symbols to 24 registered political parties. Symbols for independent candidates will be issued shortly.
126 candidates are set to contest in the 12 refugee constituencies. Kotli leads with the highest number of candidates at 135, competing across six constituencies. Muzaffarabad follows with 126 candidates vying for five seats.
In Poonch and Sudhanoti, there are also 126 candidates contesting seven constituencies. The numbers continue to decrease as we move down the list: 98 candidates in Mirpur’s four constituencies, followed by 83 in Bagh and Haveli for four seats each.
Three constituencies of Bhimber have 63 candidates, while Neelum has 51 contestants across two constituencies. Jhelum Valley sees 34 candidates competing for their respective seats.
