The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) government has declared the Joint Awami Action Committee a proscribed organization under the AJK Anti-Terrorism Act 2014. The notification states that the group, operating under multiple names including Joint Awami Action Committee, Jammu Kashmir Action Committee, and Awami Action Committee, was added to the First Schedule of the anti-terrorism law.

According to the Home Department, AJK President approved the decision to designate the group as a proscribed organization under Section 12 of the AJK Anti-Terrorism Act 2014. Authorities said there was sufficient evidence indicating the group’s involvement in activities deemed harmful to public peace and security, including creating unrest, spreading fear among the public, fostering insecurity, and promoting hatred that could undermine law and order in the region.
