The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) police have apprehended a suspect believed to be an operative working for India’s Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), according to Inspector General of Police Liaquat Ali Malik. The arrest took place in Rawalakot after a swift operation by local law enforcement.
According to the police, the suspect was involved in reconnaissance activities at sensitive locations and recording videos that were subsequently shared with foreign handlers. Authorities also claim he played a role in planning attacks on military installations and educational institutions.
Malik stated that the arrest thwarted potential threats and exposed a broader RAW espionage network. The suspect reportedly communicated with RAW via social media, transmitting sensitive information continuously. Officials believe these operatives were systematically identifying key locations to undermine national security.
The IG emphasized the region’s commitment to protecting its sanctity and maintaining peace and stability. It is also worth noting that three days prior, Pakistani security agencies arrested three individuals accused of espionage for RAW during a successful operation in Narowal, Bahawalpur, and Rawalakot.
