Alanna Ubach Acknowledges Jessica Cauffiel’s Role in Legally Blonde
American actress Alanna Ubach, who played Serena McGuire in the 2001 comedy film Legally Blonde based on Amanda Brown’s novel, has credited co-star Jessica Cauffiel for securing her role. Directed by Robert Luketic and starring Reese Witherspoon, Ali Larter, Luke Wilson, Jennifer Coolidge, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, among others, the movie celebrates its 25th anniversary on June 26.
Ubach recalled meeting Cauffiel in the bathroom before testing for the part of Margot. She shared that she couldn’t find a suitable lipstick and asked Cauffiel if she could borrow hers. The actress responded positively, allowing Ubach to try it on. When Ubach inquired about her casting, Cauffiel confirmed her role as Margot.
Ubach’s audition was successful, with the two actresses bonding over their shared need for work. Cauffiel suggested mirroring each other’s movements during the audition, leading to a memorable scene where both women were born in the women’s restroom of Universal casting.
