Police are searching for an American woman who went missing on Saturday in the Bahamas. Her husband reported her disappearance after she fell overboard during their boat trip from Hope Town to Elbow Cay on Abaco island.

The couple left at 7:30 p.m., sailing in an 8-foot hard-bottom dinghy. The man told police his wife fell with the keys, causing the engine to stop. Strong currents then swept her out to sea, and he lost sight of her.

He arrived at Marsh Harbor Boat Yard hours later but notified authorities that his wife was missing. Police, along with Royal Bahamas Defence Force and Hope Town fire officials, have been searching the area since. The investigation remains active; police urge anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers anonymously.

Neither the woman nor her husband has been identified publicly. In March 2025, the U.S. State Department warned of dangerous boating conditions in the Bahamas due to lack of regulation and potential risks from unlicensed operators.
