Onijah Andrew Robinson, the American woman who made headlines after refusing to leave Pakistan while searching for her alleged lover, has been moved to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) due to concerns over her mental health.

Sources said Robinson has been speaking incoherently and has swelling in her hands and feet. She is currently under evaluation at JPMC’s Department of Psychiatry.

Her son, Jeremiah Andrew Robinson, earlier revealed that his mother suffers from cognitive impairments and was supposed to return home weeks ago. He stated in a video message that despite purchasing a return ticket for her, she refused to leave Pakistan.

Onijah’s past also includes an arrest in Charleston County, South Carolina, in 2021 for “ENTERING PREMISES AFTER WARNING.” While a bail bond was set at $465, it remains unclear if it was paid.

The 33-year-old US national refused to board her flight and instead entered a residential building in Karachi’s Garden East area on Wednesday, ignoring police and residents’ pleas to leave.

A US Consulate team met her at the airport on January 29 but informed officials that they could not forcibly remove her, citing legal implications.
