In recent days, The Jeremy Vine Show on Channel 5 sparked heated debate about the British monarchy’s handling of scandals, particularly those tied to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. As panellists discussed whether these controversies could threaten the royal family, a Birmingham viewer took to airwaves with a surprising apology.

The viewer, whose identity was not revealed by the channel, issued an apology on behalf of the British public to Prince Harry’s wife Meghan Markle. She began by acknowledging that in comparison to Andrew’s ongoing scandals, Meghan’s past controversies seem minor: “First I would like to start off by saying, on behalf of the British public I would like to formally apologise to Meghan Markle.”

The viewer went on to assert, “Because in comparison to what is happening now, that woman was not bringing down the monarchy. This looks to me like King Charles has to step away from the throne.”

When asked why she felt compelled to defend Meghan, the viewer offered insight into the situation: “Let’s be honest, the woman ate an avocado. She was told something by her husband which she felt was kind of racist.

“She wasn’t in the room, bullied her for eight years. Said she was bringing down the monarchy,” she continued with a stark comparison to Andrew’s deeds.

“This looks like King Charles has to step away from the throne,” she concluded. “Look at what Andrew has done… it’s way worse than whatever Meghan did.”

Host Jeremy Vine echoed this sentiment, describing the situation surrounding Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor as far more concerning: “The Meghan and Harry thing looks like a picnic compared to this.”

This apology came amidst mounting scrutiny over Andrew’s connections to Jeffrey Epstein and his subsequent scandal. The episode on The Jeremy Vine Show highlighted how public opinion towards the royal family could be swayed by such revelations, casting doubt on the monarchy’s ability to maintain its image amid these ongoing controversies.
