Former National Assembly speaker Asad Qaiser has strongly denied rumors of any change in the leadership of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, stating that Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is not going anywhere. Speaking to The Express , Qaiser said changing the chief minister was “not a child’s game” and insisted there was no truth in the news of any change.
Qaiser also addressed the cases against PTI founder Imran Khan, describing them as politically motivated and baseless. He stated that Imran was unjustly imprisoned and was enduring difficult times for Pakistan while speaking for the supremacy of the Constitution, law, and Parliament.
Regarding Imran’s release, Qaiser said the party is considering all options and will launch a movement if necessary. However, he denied any backdoor negotiations or deals with the government over Imran’s release, stating that no formal talks were taking place.
Commenting on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent statement in the National Assembly regarding a proposed Charter of Democracy, Qaiser welcomed the idea and stated that there should be an Election Commission to ensure clean, transparent, and fair elections. PTI accepted the premier’s proposal for an independent audit of the 2018 and 2024 elections through a credible commission or forum.
On internal party matters, Qaiser acknowledged some disgruntled members but assured they would soon address their concerns.
