Legendary Indian playback singer Asha Bhosle passed away at age 92, confirmed by her family on Sunday.
Hospitalized due to chest infection, multiple organ failure led to her death. Her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, shared the news on X, stating she was admitted for extreme fatigue and infection.
Asha Bhosle’s illustrious career spanned seven decades, during which she recorded thousands of songs in over 20 languages. She also sang ghazals, qawalis, and classical compositions.
Starting her singing career at age 10 in 1943 under the guidance of her father, Deenanath Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle was recognized by Guinness World Records as the most recorded artist in music history in 2011. She received numerous accolades including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2000 and India’s Padma Vibhushan in 2008.
