Ashfaq Tola Takes Helm as SAFA President for 2025

The 86th Board Meeting of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) held in Karachi marked a pivotal moment with the announcement of new leadership appointments and key discussions aimed at advancing the accountancy profession across South Asia.

Ashfaq Yousuf Tola was appointed as the President of SAFA for 2025, while Mohammad Humayun Kabir assumed the role of Vice President. These appointments were announced by CA. (Dr.) Jai Kumar Batra, Permanent Secretary of SAFA, who highlighted the significance of these leadership changes in steering the federation’s goals for the year ahead.

The meeting also featured special addresses by prominent figures, including Jean Bouquot, President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), and Farrukh Rehman, President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP). They emphasized the transformative power of collaboration in addressing both regional and global economic challenges, underscoring the essential role of accountancy in promoting transparency and sustainable growth.

Looking ahead to 2025, SAFA’s new leadership outlined an ambitious vision focused on enhancing governance, building capacity, and promoting collaboration within the region. The board reaffirmed its commitment to partnerships with international organizations, such as USAID, to further strengthen good governance and accountability throughout South Asia.
