Azerbaijani Ambassador Meets Pakistani Climate Change Secretary, Discusses COP29 Preparations

The Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, H.E. Mr. Khazar Farhadov, held a meeting with the Secretary of Pakistan’s Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination, Mr. Ezaz A. Dar, to discuss preparations for the upcoming 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29).

Highlighting the longstanding relations between the two nations, Ambassador Farhadov emphasized Azerbaijan’s commitment to advancing global climate action, building on the momentum from the previous year’s UN-led climate conference in Dubai.

During the meeting, Secretary Dar acknowledged the strong bond between the people of Pakistan and Azerbaijan, affirming Pakistan’s dedication to strengthening its relationship with Azerbaijan. The Ambassador underscored Azerbaijan’s declaration of 2024 as the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World,” reflecting the nation’s commitment to addressing climate change on national, regional, and global scales.

The discussion centered on the importance of collective efforts from all stakeholders, including countries, international organizations, financial institutions, and the private sector, to achieve significant results at COP29. Secretary Dar assured the Ambassador of Pakistan’s full support in organizing, conducting, and negotiating at the two-week long UN-led conference set to commence from November 11 in Baku.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of souvenirs and mutual assurances of further strengthening the close ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
