His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Thursday hosted an official luncheon in honour of Asif Ali Zardari during the Pakistani president’s four-day official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain.

President Zardari, accompanied by First Lady Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, was also invited by the Bahraini monarch to visit the Royal Stud to view Bahrain’s internationally renowned collection of pure-bred Arabian horses. The exclusive tour of the private stables offered insight into one of the world’s most prestigious equine collections.

During the visit, the president was briefed on His Majesty’s personal role in preserving ancient Bahraini Arabian horse bloodlines, including the Al Dahmeh, Kuheilatul Jellabieh, and Kuheilatul Aafas strains. These lineages are globally recognised for their asil (pure) status and are distinguished by their speed, intelligence, and distinctive iridescent sheen.

President Zardari expressed deep admiration for King Hamad’s dedication to safeguarding these rare bloodlines, noting that the Arabian horse holds a revered place in the shared cultural and Islamic heritage of both Pakistan and Bahrain. He described it as a symbol of the enduring bond between the two nations.

The luncheon was held in a warm and cordial atmosphere and was attended by senior members of the Bahraini Royal Family, along with members of the high-level Pakistani delegation.
