New Delhi-based filmmakers behind ‘Batwara 1947’ have unveiled character posters featuring their ensemble cast ahead of the film’s theatrical debut on August 14.
The posters feature Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Preity Zinta, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, Khushi Hajare, Kanikka Kapur, and Abhimanyu Singh as characters navigating events during the 1947 Partition. The makers shared a message on social media: “In a world torn apart, their story was a testament to courage. Meet the people who lived through it all.”
Originally titled ‘Lahore 1947,’ the film has been renamed ‘Batwara 1947.’ The earlier motion poster depicted Sunny Deol holding a blazing torch with Preity Zinta and Karan Deol standing behind him.
Rajkumar Santoshi, who co-wrote the screenplay and dialogues with Wajahat Asghar, reunites with Sunny Deol after three decades. Produced by Aamir Khan and Aparna Purohit, the film features music by A.R. Rahman and lyrics by Javed Akhtar.
Abhimanyu Singh plays the principal antagonist, facing off against Sunny Deol’s character in ‘Batwara 1947,’ which is set for release on Independence Day, August 14.
