Bayern Aim to Steer Clear of ‘Bitter’ German Cup Final Loss

Bayern Munich will face Stuttgart in the German Cup final on Saturday. Despite their recent success, including defeating Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, they were eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.

Stuttgart has defeated Bayern three times this season, but a loss for them would be particularly significant. This year’s Bundesliga champions scored 122 goals across all competitions, breaking the previous single-season record of 101 goals.

Bayern have won the German Cup 20 times, more than any other team in history. However, they haven’t lifted the trophy since 2020, a six-year drought. Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen emphasized the importance of winning the cup again, stating it would be “painful” not to win.

Harry Kane expressed his disappointment at potentially missing out on another trophy. If Bayern lose to Stuttgart, their campaign will have a bitter taste. Winning Saturday’s match would also give them the remarkable achievement of winning both the Bundesliga and the German Cup for the 14th time in history.

Stuttgart, under coach Sebastian Hoeness, has made significant strides since taking over in 2023. They qualified for two Champions League tournaments and won their first silverware in 28 years. Despite being the defending champions, striker Deniz Undav sees Stuttgart as the underdogs, with Bayern favored to win.
