Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), has called for the urgent completion of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam. Addressing an election rally in Chilas on Wednesday, he warned of India’s “water aggression” under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and urged federal authorities to prioritize this project over others.

Bilawal stated that PPP secured the highest number of votes in the previous Gilgit-Baltistan elections but alleged nine seats were taken away by rivals. He accused these groups of attempting to influence the electoral process, insisting PPP relies solely on public support for the June 7 vote.

He pledged a future PPP government would fulfill commitments to Gilgit-Baltistan residents and announced an increase in funding for the Benazir Income Support Programme in the upcoming federal budget.

Bilawal highlighted three major achievements of the PPP: strengthening Pakistan’s democratic framework, advancing its nuclear capabilities, and ending foreign military bases presence. He emphasized the need for a political force capable of engaging confidently with the international community while safeguarding national interests.
