BISP Expands to Include Unmarried Women Over 35

Pakistan’s Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) will now include unmarried women aged above 35. This change was discussed during a parliamentary committee meeting on Tuesday. Committee member Bilal Mandokhail argued that unmarried women without family support were often in need of financial assistance and should not be excluded from welfare schemes. BISP officials confirmed efforts are underway to expand the programme’s eligibility framework to include these women, aiming to provide social protection coverage for those lacking independent income or family support systems.
