Blake Lively Announces Gratitude Over Court Ruling in Sexual Harassment Case Against Justin Baldoni
The actress, known for her role in ‘Gossip Girl’, took to Instagram on Monday to express her gratitude and share her thoughts following the court’s decision dismissing her claim against Baldoni.
Lively began by expressing her appreciation for the court’s ruling that will allow her case to be presented to a jury next month. She also emphasized the importance of telling her story fully at trial, not just for herself but also for those who have been similarly affected.
She added: “The last thing I wanted in my life was a lawsuit, but I brought this case because of the pervasive retaliation I faced, and continue to face, for privately and professionally asking for a safe working environment.”
Lively urged others not to be distracted by the ‘digital soap opera’ surrounding her legal battle. She stressed that it is crucial to recognize digital violence as abuse and understand its widespread impact.
She added: “The physical pain from digital violence is very real. It’s abuse. And it’s everywhere, not just in but also in our communities and schools.”
Lively highlighted statistics showing between 16% and 58% of women have experienced online abuse or stalking, with 97% of gender-based violence service providers reporting technology-facilitated abuse.
She concluded by thanking those who have paved the way for her fight against retaliation and digital warfare. She pledged to continue fighting for greater safety and awareness about these issues.
