Boots Riley Declares No Second Season for ‘I’m a Virgo’
American rapper, songwriter, record producer, and filmmaker Boots Riley has made it clear that he will not be making a second season of his 2023 Prime Video series “I’m a Virgo.” In an interview with ScreenRant, the 55-year-old artist bluntly stated, “nope.”
The reason behind this decision is multifaceted. According to Riley, the script was cut by 40%, and crucial episodes were removed. He also mentioned that there were additional scenes involving more Lower Bottoms residents.
When asked about budget-related issues affecting the first season, Riley recalled that he would have secured funding if his frequent collaborator LaKeith Stanfield had not been filming the 2023 Disney film “Haunted Mansion.” However, the studio suggested releasing those issues in a second season.
Despite these factors, Riley concluded that it doesn’t feel right to create a standalone second season. The series, which starred Jharrel Jerome as Cootie, a 13-foot-tall man who navigates life and love in the real world, is an American surreal comedy miniseries.
